Favourite Flowers In the world

The online florist industry proving most popular and importing and exporting of flowers is ever so simple.  This made me curious as to whether the whole world favoured a particular type of flower or if each country was partial to it’s own specific type.  It is particularly important in personal and business relationships to understand the messages that the flowers you send to an international location are received well and that there is no confusion as to their symbolism.

A survey was conducted in 1994 revealing that the most honoured flower in China is the Tree Peony flower.  It comes as no surprise that this flower is one of the leading contenders against the Chinese Plum Blossom for the title of China’s National Flower.  It is a symbol of nobility and value.  Japan has also not officially declaired its national flower.  However, many consider it to be the Cherry Blossom and can be seen everywhere from Japanese art to clothing, films and even printed on their coins.

Along with the known internationally popular flower choices, in Brazil, the Begonia flower is high on their list of favourites.  It’s a flower that thrives in tropical conditions and comes in a variety of rich, warm colours.  They are indigenous to Mexico, Central and South America, Asia and South Africa. They grew in popularity and were first introduced to England in 1777.

Narcissus flowers is popular throughout the world but it is the most popular flower in Germany.  This bloom was named after a character in Greek mythology of the same name.  There are many variations of the myth but they all portray a young Narcissus who became so obsessed with himself and his reflection that he either drowned or died of starvation.  In all the stories, they say that the first Narcissus flower grew where he died.  In the West, this flower symbolizes vanity while in the East, it represents wealth.  In Kurdish culture, it marks the New Year.  Yet another reason to be sure of what the flowers you send mean to a specific country or culture!

If you want to play it safe, opt for one of the internationally popular species such as Roses, Orchids or Tulips.  Now don’t go sending a client a bouquet of 12 red roses!  Send some yellow ones instead!  Or better yet, a mixed bouquet.  I bunch of roses or tulips of various colours won’t send the wrong message.  You could send a friendly message of yellow roses accompanied by some bright sunflowers and other small bright yellow flowers.

Should you still find yourself at a loss and unsure if flowers are suitable as a professional gift, for example, most online florists also have baskets and hampers that you can order.  Just like the flowers, the florist takes care of delivery for you.
